Specialist Treatment for Children & Young People with Fatigue

B11

How can I be referred?

Our service is able to offer treatment to any young person under the age of 18 with Fatigue who needs help getting better. All our treatment programmes are individually tailored; this means we can help a wide range of young people, whether they have mild fatigue and need a little help, or have very severe fatigue and are unable to get out of bed.

Please note: we are able to accept your referral if you are 16-18 years old as long as you are still registered with a school or college. If you are already in employment, it may be most appropriate for you and your GP to consider referral directly to your most local Adult Fatigue service.

We can accept referrals from both our local region and further afield, however all referrals to us must be made by a hospital consultant, GP or other health professional.

All referring GPs are required to make a formal referral via the NHS e-Referral Service - for further information please visit the Information for GPs and Referrers section.

Before we are able to offer treatment in our service, children and young people being referred to us need to have had:

  • Suspected fatigue for at least 3 months
  • A range of screening blood tests to rule out other causes of fatigue (details can be found on our ‘Referral Proforma’ in the Information for GPs and Referrers section).
