Gastroenterology

For Outpatients

Gastroenterology Outpatients is a busy department situated in the Grace Penwarden Unit along with the endoscopy suite. The gastroenterology clinic staff provides care and advice, particularly to people who have problems associated with the gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas.

Investigations such as rigid sigmoidoscopy, proctoscopy and redressing of wounds are performed in the department.

The Clinics

Clinics run every morning and afternoon, Monday to Friday.

Appointments & Reception

The receptionists in the department work 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Please book in with them on arrival.

New appointments are made by the Clinic Co-ordinators in the Appointment Centre.

The team consists of Consultants, Registrars, Staff Grades, Clinical Specialists, Unit Manager/Sister, Clinic Nurses, Clinic Co-ordinators, Receptionists, Upper and Lower GI Cancer Specialist Nurses, Stoma Care Nurses, Nutrition Nurses, Dietitians.

You may be required to prepare for your appointment

  • While in the department you will have your weight and height recorded.
  • Please bring with you a record of any medication you are taking or using.

Facilities

There are toilets/assisted toilet in the department. Magazines are available in the waiting area. Information leaflets are on display, if you require anything that is not there please ask a member of staff. The nearest tea/coffee facilities are in the Atrium on the ground floor.

Location

If you enter via the Atrium, go through the Atrium into the main corridor. Take the lift or stairs to the second floor and then turn right. The department is on the left, opposite vascular studies.

Hospital transport is limited and reserved ONLY for those who have no other means. Therefore, we ask you to make your own arrangements wherever possible.
