William Budd - our inpatient ward
Our inpatient ward, William Budd, is dedicated to care for patients aged 16 years and above who have a diagnosis of cancer and are undergoing intensive chemotherapy or radiotherapy. The team also care for those who require an inpatient stay to help manage symptoms caused by their cancer or cancer treatment and patients who need end of life care.
There are 22 beds on William Budd, including three single-sex bays of four beds and ten single rooms. Five of the single rooms have positive pressure air filtration for patients who require intensive chemotherapy and/or stem cell transplantation and the remaining five single rooms are for those who require isolation for medical reasons.
Although it can be at times, a fast-paced ward, our caring and friendly team are supportive with each other and are proud to have achieved Silver Ward accreditation. The team are now working towards gold.
You would be joining a team which has a wealth of experience and knowledge. The Senior Sister and Matron actively encourages colleagues to undertake ongoing professional development and new starters are supported in the Trust's preceptorship programme and mentorship training. Moving into the brand new Dyson Cancer Centre
Now is the time to join our team as they will soon be moving into the brand new Dyson Cancer Centre. It will have amazing facilities, transforming the care that we provide to our patients and their loved ones. The majority of our cancer services, including our research teams, will be all under one roof, which is going to be a huge benefit.
The Dyson Cancer Centre is already an impressive sight - it stands next to the main entrance of the RUH and will have an inpatient ward, outpatients, dedicated therapy rooms, Lymphoedema room, radiotherapy, pharmacy, chemotherapy and day care, clinical trials and research teams, staff hub, nuclear medicine and medical physics as well as quiet rooms and outdoor spaces and courtyards for patients and staff.
