The Care Team

You will be allocated one of the eight consultant cardiologists on admission to the ward, who will ultimately be responsible for your care. The consultants rotate every few weeks, so you may have more than one lead consultant during your admission. Your care will be delivered primarily by nurses.

Other specialists such as the cardiac rehab team, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dieticians, social workers, and diabetic nurse specialists will be involved in your care if appropriate.

Please feel free to ask your nurse to explain anything that you do not understand or is troubling you.

As part of your ongoing care you may be transferred directly from the Cardiac Ward to the other hospitals for more invasive investigations or treatments which we are unable to perform in this hospital.
