About the Ward

Ambulatory Care is an urgent service working to enable medical patients avoid admission to hospital. We assess and treat patients referred to us, primarily, from primary care where GPs feel a patient requires urgent assessment and diagnostic tests but does not necessarily require admission.  We also care for patients referred by our own emergency department and acute medical teams, enabling a safe and supported, but timely, discharge from hospital.

We work closely with Radiology and other diagnostic services to provide same-day emergency care for ambulant patients.

We also provide an infusion service for the most acutely unwell patients requiring either blood transfusion, iron infusions or electrolyte replacement.

The Team

We have a team of doctors and nurses comprising of an Acute Medical consultant, GPs, Registrars, nurses and nursing associates.

Ward hours for team: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 19:00
