Breast Cysts

Patient undergoing a Mammogram scan

Cyst formation is incredibly common. At least 60% of women develop cysts in their breasts as they get older, as they pass into their late thirties and forties.

Cysts are fluid filled cavities within the breast.

Many women will form multiple cysts. They form as a natural process of ageing (or involution) of the breast tissue and they do not significantly increase one's risk of developing breast cancer. They are just a nuisance!
