F1 Doctors

We really value high-quality care and patient safety. Therefore, we are working hard to enhance your induction into the RUH and the process of completing your mandatory training.

You will be requested to complete both Millennium AND Mandatory training before starting your shadowing period at the RUH and will receive emails at the start of July advising when this F1 pre-hire training is available to access.

Shadowing Period

Your shadowing period at the RUH will commence on Monday 27 July 2026 and will incorporate your induction welcome essential information, shadowing time and clinical skills training.

Millennium Training

This Millennium training MUST be completed before your start day on Monday 27 July 2026.

Millennium is our Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system. In order to be given access to patient records, you will need to complete the relevant eLearning course on the RUH training platform:

Learn Together

Please, use your active NHS email address and password to access this platform, then click on My Dashboards and My Millennium eLearning in order to find and complete the most relevant course for your role.

You will be given time in lieu to cover the time spent completing your Millennium training.

Mandatory Training

The deadline to complete F1 pre-hire mandatory training is Thursday 23 July 2026. For further information about accessing and completing F1 Pre-Hire training on our mandatory training platform, Learn Together please see below.

If you are sent information from NHS England about registering on their system to complete an eLearning for Health e-induction package please do not complete it in this way. Access to the package will be given via the RUH's mandatory training platform, Learn Together in the same way as your other eLearning.

Accessing and Completing F1 Pre-Hire Mandatory Training

All RUH Foundation Year 1 doctors are requested to complete pre-hire training on our learning management system LearnTogether, prior to starting their shadowing period.

You will be paid for the standard time to complete pre-hire training and payment will be made in your August salary. You will be paid for all fully completed eLearning. Where there is an associated assessment this must also be passed - partially completed and failed modules will NOT be paid.

If you do not complete all the pre-hire training modules prior to starting your shadowing period you will be expected to complete any remaining modules in the first month of joining the RUH. Please note, you will not be able to claim payment for any training modules completed after the F1 pre-hire training deadline.

Please note: when you have completed all of the required pre hire mandatory eLearning modules your % compliance in LearnTogether should be 85%. You will be able to achieve 100% compliance after you have attended the face to face resuscitation and Oliver McGowan training.

Resuscitation Training

F1 doctors are required to complete both Adult and Paediatric Basic Life Support training. This requires completion of Adult & Paeds Theory eLearning modules during your pre-hire training period and attendance on face-to-face practical sessions scheduled during your shadowing period. It is important that you choose the following BLS courses to access the correct Theory eLearning modules:

• Adult Basic Life Support Training & Test - eLearning & classroom
• Paediatric Basic Life Support Training & Test - eLearning & classroom

Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability & Autism

The Oliver McGowan Learning Disability & Autism Mandatory Training comprises 2 parts: Part 1 eLearning and Part 2 face to face training. During the pre-hire training period you are expected to complete the Oliver McGowan Learning Disability & Autism Mandatory Training part 1 eLearning module only.

After joining the RUH you will need to agree a date with your manager to attend the face to face training. Instructions for booking are included in the course summary on LearnTogether: The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training Learning Disability & Autism Tier 2: Part 2 classroom.

Additional Training Requirements

Blood Transfusion and VTE are covered in your pre-hire Doctors in Training (NHSE package) eLearning and will show compliant when the package has been completed therefore you are not required to complete the separate Blood Transfusion and VTE elearning modules.

ReSPECT Awareness Level 1 is fully covered in the Resuscitation Adult Basic Life Support Theory eLearning module and will show compliant after the completion of both the ABLS theory module and your attendance on the ABLS classroom session has been recorded in LearnTogether. You are not required to complete the separate Respect Awareness elearning module.

Induction – Your booking on a face to face F1 Induction session during your shadowing week will be confirmed to you by email. Please allow a few days after this session for your attendance to be recorded and update your Induction compliance in your LearnTogether training record.

Human Factors – this class based face training will be covered in the practical basic life support session scheduled during your shadowing period.
