Anaesthesia
About us
Welcome to the Department of Anaesthesia at the Royal United Hospital (RUH) Bath.
Anaesthetics are given to allow patients to tolerate medical procedures and operations without discomfort or distress. Anaesthetists are highly trained doctors who work in many areas of the hospital in addition to providing anaesthetics for operations. You will see anaesthetists working in operating theatres, labour ward, clinics, caring for the critically unwell in intensive care (ICU) or as part of hospital resuscitation teams.
Patients are at the centre of everything we do. Our goal is to provide safe, effective and personalised anaesthetic care to every patient we see. We aim to ensure that every patient is well informed, carefully assessed, and supported throughout their surgical journey.
