Lumps and Bumps
Lumps and bumps on the genital area are common and do not always need treatment.
Fordyce spots are slightly raised sebaceous (oil) glands that appear in hairless areas of your skin including the genitals. They are harmless and do not require any treatment.
Pearly penile papules (PPP) are small bumps that can occur under the head of the penis. They are a normal anatomical variation and do not need treatment.
Molluscum contagiosum is an infection that causes dimpled spots on the skin. Spots can appear anywhere on the body but if spread by sexual contact can occur on the abdomen, genitals and buttocks. It is not an STI but is spread through direct skin-to-skin contact. It rarely needs treatment and will usually clear up on its own within 18 months.
