Vascular Studies - Diagnostic Tests
Diagnostic Tests include ultrasound studies of the functioning of the arteries and veins to help plan appropriate treatments. These are short, non-invasive and pain-free tests which involve putting jelly on the skin area and imaging the vessels on a screen. For example:
- Scans of the neck arteries for suspected stroke
- Scans of the abdominal aorta for suspected aneurysm
- Scans of leg arteries for pain on walking
- Scans of the leg veins for a deep vein thrombosis, varicose veins or venous ulcers
- Scans of the arm arteries or veins for muscle weakness or thrombosis in the veins
If you have an appointment for a Vascular Ultrasound it will take place in department B56 on the second floor at the RUH. The Vascular Studies Unit can be contacted on 01225 824441 or 01225 824440.
We are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm.
