MIBG Case 6

Details on the Request Card

14/52 ex premature male infant presents with easy bruising and multiple soft tissue masses. Abdominal ultrasound suggests metastatic neuroblastoma. Histology and biochemistry awaited, ?MIBG uptake.

Procedure

Anterior and posterior images are shown, 24hrs after injection

Questions

1) Are there any abnormal areas of uptake?
2) If so, where?
3) What is the significance of MIBG uptake?
4) If the MIBG is normal does a bone marrow biopsy still need doing?
