Overview
We are a busy department seeing both booked and emergency eye patients.
Emergency Patients
Please refer to the documentation below before making a referral. This should help you to determine whether an emergency referral is appropriate. Please consider referring patients to CUES if it is not a true emergency.

Weekdays 9am to 4.30pm
Refer a patient to our casualty clinic by filling out the emergency referral form. You must fill in all the indicated fields to submit the referral.
GPs can refer a patient to our Casualty Clinic by completing the Ardens form. This can be found under "O" –> "Other" –> "Emergency Eye Casualty"
- Any referrals received with incomplete fields will be rejected and returned to the referrer.
- All referrals must be completed by CLINICIANS ONLY. Any self-referrals made by patients will be rejected.
- We aim to respond to your query the same day.

- Monday to Thursday, 5pm to 8pm
Phone RUH switchboard on 01225 428331 and ask for the Ophthalmology Registrar On‑Call. - 5pm Friday to 4pm Sunday

Refer to Bristol Eye Hospital. This can be done by contacting switchboard and contacting the Ophthalmology Registrar On‑Call.
