RUH seeks candidates for Non-Executive Director role

A new Non-Executive Director is being sought to join the Board of the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust.

He or she will replace Nicholas Hood, a former Wessex Water chairman, who is retiring after four years in the role.

Trust Chairman Brian Stables said: "Non‐Executive Directors play a crucial role in bringing an independent perspective to the boardroom, in addition to any specific knowledge and skills they may have.

"We've got an exciting and challenging agenda ahead and we're looking for an exceptional individual to join our board and contribute their skills and expertise to develop healthcare for our local community and beyond. The NHS is facing some fundamental challenges and the future will be about organisations working together to deliver the best quality experience and outcomes for patients in a sustainable way. We have already started this journey and are pioneering new ventures and new ways of working.

"We have an exciting programme of redevelopment underway, to transform our site and further improve the services we provide. We've already completed a number of major redevelopment projects, including the award-winning Dyson Neonatal Care Unit and Information Management and Technology building, and a state of the art Pathology Laboratory. We're transforming our car parks to further improve our patient experience and we're gearing up to commence building our brand new RNHRD and Therapies Centre, followed closely by a new state of the art Cancer Centre."

Joanna Hole, senior independent director and current Non-Executive Director, said: "It's a very fulfilling role in a public service that's doing such an important job at such a time of change. I've found my time here very rewarding and, with so such happening in the NHS and at the RUH now and in the near future, I'm sure the new Non-Executive Director will have ample opportunity to make a significant contribution."
