Role of the Clinical Scientist
Main roles of the Clinical Scientist in Clinical Imaging and Measurement are to:
- Provide scientific advice on the procedures performed.
- Advise on appropriate handling of radioactive material.
- Advise on equipment purchase and acceptance.
- Establish and maintain equipment quality control.
- Be involved with any new procedure and advise on all scientific aspects.
- Write software to acquire and/or process the patient data.
- Advise on radiation protection and patient dose (perform dose calculations).
- Be aware and apply all relevant legislation.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of good practice/techniques and procedures.
- Educate.
