Role of the Clinical Scientist

Main roles of the Clinical Scientist in Clinical Imaging and Measurement are to:

  1. Provide scientific advice on the procedures performed.
  2. Advise on appropriate handling of radioactive material.
  3. Advise on equipment purchase and acceptance.
  4. Establish and maintain equipment quality control.
  5. Be involved with any new procedure and advise on all scientific aspects.
  6. Write software to acquire and/or process the patient data.
  7. Advise on radiation protection and patient dose (perform dose calculations).
  8. Be aware and apply all relevant legislation.
  9. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of good practice/techniques and procedures.
  10. Educate.
