Specialist Treatment for Children & Young People with CFS/ME

How can I be referred?

Our service is able to offer treatment to any young person under the age of 18 with CFS/ME who needs help getting better. All our treatment programmes are individually tailored; this means we can help a wide range of young people, whether they have mild CFS/ME and need a little help, or have very severe CFS/ME and are unable to get out of bed.

We can accept referrals from both our local region and further afield, however all referrals to us must be made by a hospital consultant, GP or other health professional.

All referring GPs are required to make a formal referral via the NHS e-Referral Service - for further information please visit the Information for GPs and Referrers section.

Before we are able to offer treatment in our service, children and young people being referred to us need to have had:

  • Suspected CFS/ME for at least three months
  • A range of screening blood tests to rule out other causes of fatigue (details can be found on our ‘Referral Proforma’ in the Information for GPs and Referrers section).
