Citrate sample must be received in lab within 4hours. Please note that the etched fill indicator on the plastic citrate tubes indicates the minimum acceptable blood volume required for analysis. Time limit for add on = <4 hours. Haemolysed samples should not be tested.

Please note: for unfractionated heparin monitoring, the sample should be centrifuged 1-2 hours after collection and tested within 4 hours to avoid the substantial loss of heparin over time in citrated whole blood.
