Clinical Application
Used in men in assessment of fertility, erectile dysfunction and response to treatment for prostatic cancer.

In women used in assessment of hirsutism, PCOS and monitoring of replacement therapy in post-menopausal women.

Used as part of hCG stimulation test in investigation of ambiguous genitalia in infants, and in the assessment of delayed puberty.

Test limitations: In isolated cases, elevated testosterone levels can be seen in samples from female patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD).
