Dorothy House Hospice Care
Local inpatient and community specialist palliative care services are provided by Dorothy House Hospice Care. The hospice is based in Winsley near Bradford on Avon. The hospice also has 2 outreach centres providing community specialist palliative services. These outreach centres are based in Peasedown St John and Trowbridge.

The hospice covers the following areas:
- BaNES – Bath, Keynsham, Midsomer Norton, Paulton, Peasedown, Radstock, Winsley
- Wiltshire - Bradford-on-Avon, Calne, Chippenham, Corsham, Devizes, Malmesbury, Melksham, Trowbridge, Warminster, Westbury
- Somerset (Mendip) - Frome, Shepton Mallett

Core referral criteria for community specialist palliative care:
- Holistic assessment and multi-professional management of complex symptoms
- Symptoms may be physical, psychological and/or spiritual
- Support with Advance Care Planning (ACP) when preparing for the future due to the diagnosis of a life-limiting condition
- Support and information for patients and their carers
- Hospice at Home care (You can make a referral 7 days a week from 8am – 7pm, please contact the Clinical Coordination Centre on 0345 0130 555)
- Patient and GP aware of referral
Core referral criteria for hospice inpatient specialist palliative care:
- Assessment and multi-professional management of complex, often unstable, symptoms, both physical and psychological
- Psycho-social support including complex support needs where a situation at home has become untenable but can be improved/managed
- Palliative Rehabilitation
- Respite care – both planned and acute
- Terminal care (within the last 1-2 weeks of life)
