Dyson Cancer Centre information

In April 2024 most of our non-surgical cancer care services including oncology, chemotherapy and anti-cancer therapy, radiotherapy and William Budd Inpatient Ward moved to the new Dyson Cancer Centre, a purpose built centre located close to the main entrance of the RUH.

Questions about accessing the Dyson Cancer Centre

Where is the best place for me to park?

There are five drop off spaces available outside the Dyson Cancer Centre – these are can be used by any patients or visitor to the RUH site.

Disabled parking spaces can be found close to the main entrance of the Dyson Cancer Centre. Patients and visitors can access any of the available visitor spaces on the RUH site.

How do I get into the Dyson Cancer Centre?

Between 8am and 8pm you will be able to access the Centre by the main doors into the atrium of Dyson Cancer Centre. Outside of these hours there will be a video intercom outside the main Dyson Cancer Centre entrance – visitors can call and will be provided with appropriate access.

Will I be able to access the centre via the main RUH building?

William Budd ward can be accessed via the first floor of the main RUH hospital building – following the signs to William Budd Ward, A35.

All other patients and visitors are asked to use the Dyson Cancer Centre Atrium or Radiology entrance during standard hours.

Will there be any volunteers to help me in the Dyson Cancer Centre?

Yes. Volunteers will provide support to those visiting the Dyson Cancer Centre, including redirecting people from the RUH Atrium to the new centre.

Receptionists and volunteers will also be on hand in the Atrium 8am – 4pm each day to support and guide those who access the building.

When are the opening hours?

Can people drop into the Macmillan hub at any time, do they need an appointment?

The Macmillan Hub will be open for face to face appointments Mon – Fri, 8pm – 6pm.

Patients, relatives are welcome to drop in during this time for general information however people seeking to access a particular service such as wig fitting or financial advice will need an appointment.

Questions about the facilities at the Dyson Cancer Centre

What food and refreshments will be provided for patients and visitors in the Dyson Cancer Centre?

Relatives can access existing facilities on the RUH site including the Lansdown Restaurant, Atrium and Friends Coffee Shop for refreshments / light snack or meal.

Where are the toilets in the Dyson Cancer Centre?

Toilet facilities are available for patients on all three floors of the centre and are clearly marked and signposted.
