The Forever Friends Appeal - RUH Charity

About the Appeal | Our Major Campaign | Past Campaigns | Contact us

Logo The Forever Friends Appeal is the fundraising charity for the Royal United Hospitals Bath and recently had its 20th anniversary - 29 June 2019. Since June 1999, over £23 million has been raised, funding major projects to make a real difference to patients and their families being treated and cared for at the RUH.

They couldn’t do this without the thousands of supporters who raise funds though fundraising, taking part in events, making donations, or simply donating their time and volunteering at their events.

In celebration of their 20th anniversary, a short film has been made to show how patient care at the RUH has been transformed in their 20 year history. Click here to watch the film.

As well as fundraising for major campaigns (The Dyson Cancer Centre and the RNHRD and Therapies Centre), The Forever Friends Appeal raises funds for the hospital’s wards and departments to pay for specialist medical equipment and facilities, research and innovations, staff training and the creation of welcoming and highly beneficial healing environments for our patients and their families. Each year the Appeal invests in projects that go above and beyond what the NHS can provide.

If you would like to fundraise or make a donation to a ward or department please contact The Forever Friends Appeal (details below), visit their web site or send your donation with a letter indicating if you wish the donation to be designated to a particular area, or for general use and the Appeal will ensure that your donation is used to help patients in that area.

Our Major Campaigns

Logo Thanks to the help of dedicated supporters, major donors and the goodwill of the public, the minimum £8.5million fundraising target needed for the pioneering new RUH Cancer Centre has been reached.

But, they're not stopping the fundraising efforts as many donors want to sustain the campaign into 2019 to maximise the fundraising efforts for the new Cancer Centre to ensure it is truly special in its design, facilities and equipment.

The aim is to build a Cancer Centre where every brick is therapeutic, where clinical excellence can be provided with a holistic approach that delivers a uniquely beneficial healing environment with improved outcomes, an exceptional patient experience and a strong focus on long-term survivorship.

The new Cancer Centre will be prominently located on the site of what is currently the 1940's 'RUH North'. Its construction will be logistically complex with services continuing either in situ or temporarily relocated.

Consultant architects IBI have helped develop a phased Estates Development Strategy which includes the sequential demolition of RUH North and the construction of the new Centre in 2019/20.

Raising £2m towards the unique RNHRD & Therapies Centre at the Royal United Hospitals Bath (RUH)

The vision for the new Centre is to create a nurturing environment with dedicated facilities for rheumatology, therapies and pain management services.

The new building will include a large hydrotherapy pool, specialist gym and rehabilitation equipment, and a biologics treatment space.

The new RNHRD & Therapies Centre will be one of the first buildings visible to everyone on arrival at the hospital, alongside the main hospital entrance and, in due course, the new Dyson Cancer Centre.

The latest designs also includes landscaping proposals to create a welcoming space at the front of the hospital, connecting the two new keynote buildings with our existing main entrance, and setting the hospital entrance into the context of its surroundings in the World Heritage City of Bath.

Benefactors Andrew and Christina Brownsword have pledged to match every pound donated - up to £1m, inviting the public to help the Appeal achieve its fundraising target.

To reach the £2 million, the Appeal has launched 'Therapies Matter', a campaign that features people of all ages and backgrounds who have received therapy to aid their recovery, or for some to learn how to manage their long-term condition.
