Clinical Application
Please note dietary and medicinal restrictions must be followed.
Please avoid the following foods for 3 days before, and during the collection: aubergine (egg plant), avocado,bananas, broccoli, hickory nuts, kiwi, pecans, pineapple (and juice), plantain, plums, tomatoes (including all tomato based foods/sauces), walnuts.
As well as the foods listed above, the following medications should also be avoided, if possible, for 3 days before, and during the collection: beta-blockers, cough mixture, diazepam, indomethacin, naproxen, paracetamol, mephenesin.
Other medications may also cause changes in 5-HIAA metabolism (e.g. SSRIs): please state current medications on the request form.
