Reduction in Infection and Harm - QIPP 1.2

Project Overview

The full scope of this project is to reduce falls, hospital acquired pressure ulcers, hospital acquired Clostridium Difficile and Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) in 2013/14.

NOTE PATIENT FALLS, which are classified as no harm, have not been included in the project scope.

Key Objectives

  1. To reduce C Diff by 2 cases within 2013/14 - each case costs approx... £4K to treat with an increased LOS of 21 days.
  2. Reduce falls in which a patient suffers a fractured neck of femur by 25% by March 2014.This equates to 4 patients who will have an approximate increased LOS of 10 days.
  3. Reduce category 2, 3 & 4 by 50% during 2013/14 as detailed in this year's CQUIN for pressure ulcers.
  4. Reduce the number of Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) by 50% during 2013/14
  5. Reduce Minor harm falls by 25% during 2012/13 this equates to 119 falls with each patient having an approx. 3 day increased LOS.
