A special gift

We're grateful when our patients, former staff members and supporters kindly leave a donation to the RUH in their will, no matter how large or small. But two years ago we received an interesting legacy of a more unusual kind – a delivery of four nursing medals posted over 4,500 miles, from Canada.

These medals belonged to Sheila Marjorie Worsley, or Sheila Spriggs as she was then known. She died in Victoria in British Colombia, Canada, on February 25 2016. Two of the medals had been given by the RUH, plus one from the General Nursing Council for England and Wales, and one marking five years of service at the General Hospital Bashaw in Alberta, Canada. Two of the medals are dated 1950.

The medals are in the safe hands of our Finance department. We would love to know more about them, do you recognise these medals or did you know Sheila? Contact the Communications team at ruh-tr.communicationteam@nhs.net
